Celebrating 2018 Regional Housing Leaders

The torrential rains last Thursday night didn’t stop housing professionals and friends from attending our 2018 Regional Housing Leaders Reception and Awards Ceremony to honor exceptional individuals and organizations in our industry. These leaders motivate, inspire and call upon all of us to act to create more equitable, inclusive, and thriving communities. We were proud to acknowledge their achievements, and to toast their accomplishments with housing colleagues from around the region.

Recipients
Regional Housing Impact Leader
David Bowers, Enterprise Community Partners

Housing Hall of Fame
Fr. Gerard Creedon, former Pastor of Holy Family Church (posthumous)
Michael Scheurer, Cornerstones

William L. Berry Sustainable Communities Award
HomeAid Northern Virginia

Our keynote speaker for the evening was Mr. Leon Andrews, Director of the Race, Equity and Leadership Initiative at the National League of Cities. Leon engaged the audience in a moving conversation about equity and opportunity, and challenged us to address systemic racism and unconscious bias in our housing and community development work. This will certainly be a key component of the work we do at the Alliance as we move into 2019.
